How I brought MindMate to life
My Role
As the sole UX/UI designer on this passion project, I led the product from initial research to final prototype.
Empathy-Led UX Research
I started by speaking with people experiencing anxiety to uncover real emotional needs. These insights shaped a product built not just for function, but for emotional support—centered on trust, safety, and daily guidance.

To bring the concept to life, I wrote conversational scripts, designed subtle microinteractions, and created a cartoon-style explainer video. Every detail aimed to create an experience that felt like a smart, gentle companion.

What I Built with AI
I explored and integrated multiple AI technologies—from NLP for chat support and therapist assistance to sentiment analysis and personalized activity engines. These systems shaped how MindMate understands moods, offers real-time support, and visualizes emotional progress.
Where Ideas Sparked
Throughout the process, new opportunities became clear: guided AI journaling for deeper self-awareness, gamification to inspire consistency, wearable integration for richer insights, and tools to support caregivers—all pointing toward a more holistic mental health ecosystem.
What Truly Worked
Features like personalized daily plans, real-time emotional support, and an intuitive, joyful interface proved impactful. Users responded to thoughtful design backed by smart systems—showing that emotional care can be tech-driven and human-centered.

1. Objective
We tested two Profile Tab layouts to learn which design best supports mood tracking and navigation.
Screen A showed a single mood/activity view, while Screen B introduced a split-tab for mood vs. progress.
2. What We Measured
To evaluate the effectiveness of each screen, we focused on user engagement, task completion, and clarity. We looked at how long users stayed on the screen, how easily they could complete core actions like mood selection, and how intuitive the layout felt for navigating between sections.
3. Key Learnings
Users found Screen B more intuitive. Color-coded moods and hover states improved usability and emotion recognition. The “My Progress” tab also boosted perceived value.
4. What Worked Best
Screen B outperformed. Users praised its clarity, interactive feel, and emotional tracking. Visual distinction made it easier to engage with their own mood data.
